We’re delighted to highlight an upcoming event featuring Christine Donovan, who will be discussing her new novel Deriveville at Housmans Bookshop.
Taking place on Wednesday 22 April, 7:00–8:30pm, this special evening—New Psychogeographies—brings Donovan into conversation with the legendary Tom Vague. Together, they will explore the enduring influence of the Situationist International and the evolving landscape of psychogeographical writing.
Donovan’s Deriveville transports readers to Paris in 1981, following rising literary star Julia as she navigates the worlds of cinema, creativity, and excess. From the glamour of Cannes to the intoxicating nights of Les Bains Douches, the novel offers a vivid and immersive journey through a city shaped by ideas, art, and experience.
Tom Vague joins the discussion with his expansive work on Notting Hill, tracing its transformation from deep history through countercultural revolution to its present-day identity—part memoir, part urban exploration.
The evening will feature a 45–60 minute conversation followed by an audience Q&A. Tickets are available on a sliding scale, ensuring the event remains accessible to all.
